Bengaluru Baking Company at JW Marriott has a new high tea menu

JW Marriott’s Bengaluru Baking Company is known for its red velvet cake, recognized by experts as the best in town. But we think the bakery has a lot more to offer when it comes to baked snacks and desserts, and the best way to experience them is to taste them. Now they launched a new menu for the buffet which we had the chance to taste.

They offer a wide selection of teas to choose from – Earl Grey, chamomile, peppermint and of course, the Indian staple, Masala chai. For those hot summer days, try their refreshing and fruity iced tea. If you’re more of a coffee lover, don’t worry, they also have Americano cappuccinos and lattes.

Short eats
Where previously high tea was limited to Indian snacks, they have now taken a more international approach to the spread. There is a mix of Indian and global favorites and includes both indulgent and lean options.

We started with local favorites, which rotate weekly. We had the chance to try their Samosas and Chicken Kathi rolls. Accompanied by sweet and spicy chutneys, they are sure to live up to your cup of tea. This is followed by three types of nachos – salty, oregano and chili. The dips are what stole the show – silky sour cream and freshly made salsa.

What’s tea without finger sandwiches? Wrapped in tied parcels, you can choose between the Tomato and Cucumber Sandwich and the Ham and Cheese Sandwich. If you think this is all too calorie-dense, opt for their mezze dishes – Baba ganoush, Hummus and Fattoush, all served with pita bread.
And seeing that we had ordered English breakfast tea, we had to take the scones. Served with cream and fresh blueberry compote, it went perfectly with our drink.

nothing sweet
As mentioned, the BBC is known for its desserts, and tea is the best place to try them all in one sitting. We tried and loved the chocolate cupcake – picture perfect with a big swirl of frosting and delicious at the same time. But the moist banana cake was what stole our hearts – a must for fruit lovers. Other options were nut brownie, pineapple delight and chocolate roll. Coupled with their spacious ambience and newly introduced sheesha options, BBC Tea is a great way to spend an afternoon in the city.
